A Review of my Drawing Book

I've long been a fan of the elegant Fine Art Connoisseur Magazine, so it was a special honor when approximately a month ago, I received a call that I would be in an upcoming issue. I wasn't exactly sure what to expect and was truly delighted to find a nice double page review of my book, written by Kelly Compton.

The Saturday Sessions

Almost every Saturday I open my studio to other artists that are serious about working from life.Together we either draw or paint from 10:00am until almost midnight. 12 hours of working from life! At about the half way mark we all take a break and enjoy a healthy home cooked vegan dinner together. It's a great day filled with conversations, the exchange of ideas, laughs, music, food and the company of like minded individuals who are passionate about art. The basic idea is to share what we know and inspire each other to greater levels of excellence.

Sometimes as these photos show it gets a little crowded and we all need to squeeze together. In this photo is my painting showing the progress of my "block in", my palette, brushes and favorite chair (well worn). Sitting behind my painting analyzing the progress of his painting, is the artist Richard Scarpa. And behind him taped to the wall is a portrait commission I'm working on - also partially complete.

The artists pictured in this photo are Ed Sprafkin and behind him Antonina Shahsovar (a.k.a Tonia). Obviously there are others. As you can see there are art materials and easels every where. More photos in the future...

Drawing Magazine

So much happens on a regular basis that I thought I might begin a blog and this seems like the perfect place to begin posting.

Several months ago I received an email from the editor of "Drawing" magazine that they were interested in reviewing a copy of my new drawing book. I sent it to them and a pleasant exchange of emails and phone conversations ensued. I must say the whole process was very enjoyable. Several days ago I received my copy of the magazine with my article inside.
